Over many years I have seen great changes in the landscape of the inner city of Perth, Northbridge and East Perth. In the inner city, places such as the Swan Brewery,Emu Brewery.Northbridge, the Lone Star Hotel (now an empty city space), many buildings along the route of the Northbridge tunnel In East Perth, the Dobie Dico Meter Company (a 60yr old lead works), a salvage yard and an old group of shops and houses that have since been demolished to make way for progress. For me, when I photograph industrial buildings and areas I am always so very aware of people’s lives being spent there, I wonder who they were and what it was like to be there when the places were productive thriving communitys.There is a sense of timeless space and solitude when I am in abandoned envioroments there is so much of a seperation of placement from the outside bustle of the city to the quiet inside of the buildings.

Somehow this is a vanishing city, vanishing in the sense of we are so used to seeing the demolltion we never stop to question why.Redevelopment after redevelopment it never stops
