For many years of education in public schools I only waited for a moment to start my art studies.
I finally reached my goal in 2003 and now I am the full time student in the European Academy of Arts. I live in Warsaw which is the capital of Poland, totally destroyed during the Second World War. I was bought up among concrete walls of block of flats and tall chimneys of power plants. This special envioroment pushed me towards the matters of industrialisation which are vividly present in my last works. Generally I am a traditional artist who works with paints and charcoal slowly increasing my skills in these mediums. However, photography keeps a special place in my interests as a way of capturing the reality, of showing strange and disturbing aspects of it ,which usually pass unnoticed.
Maria Kowalskal
I was born in Poland in 1984, five years before final fall of communism and two years before the catastrope in Chernobyl.
I call up these dates because they put deep marks on my life, and changed the world around me. Since my early childhood I wanted to become an artist.
