My name is Philip Solovjov, I 'm 19 years old and I was born in Russia, Moscow. Currently I'm living in Estonia, Narva, where I graduated from gymnasium [high school] in 2004. In 2005 I hope to enter university to study photography. At the moment I'm studying it by myself. My father is a professional photographer, but he never offered me to follow his steps.I was not seriously interested in art photography before year 2003, when I realised that it's the only thing I can do in my life. and I'm grateful to my father that he has allowed me to come to such conclusion without his pressure. Now photography for me is self expression method. I'm not sure do I want to earn by photography in future, because ART and commercial photography are two different things, which hardly anybody can combine. I recieve a lot of inspiration from photographers like Michael Kenna, Bill Schwab, Bill Brandt, Rolf Horn, Simon Marsden and many more. Also I recieve inspiration from painting, especially from Russian artists- realists of 19 century and European impressionists of late 19 century. In music I prefer electronic, ambient styles, which are a great source of inspiration as well. Also I'm interested in philosophy and oriental culture. Favourite hobbies are mountain biking and non - traditional ways of travelling, such as hitch hiking for example:] Except from one local competition in 2003 I have never exhibited my photos. For me photography is not only the way to express myself, but it is also entirely new perception of our life and World.
