Leaf Ashley
Photographer/Silversmith

I was born in the southwestern area of the United States. I grew up and spent time in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and, from time to time, New York. all have had a profound influence on me because of the diverse people and environments.

My love for photography and various art forms came natural to me; growing up in an artistic and creative family environment helped me by nurturing and facilitating my growth as an artist. I have been particularly drawn to the imagery of Film Noir for its high contrast and stark imagery, also photography of the 1940's and 50's. In high school I began to experiment with photgraphy, and jewely making, and I continued on through college. In many ways each art form has helped me to refine my "eye" and the perceptions of my surroundings.

Black and white photography has always intruigued me; the medium gives the viewer, as well as the artist, an opportunity to use their imagination to draw their own conclusions. Capturing a moment in time allows them to wander through the frozen space to create their own story and discover the beauty that touches the soul.
