Throughout the years, Marius has spent time living and traveling abroad, photographing life and culture in countries of Eastern Europe, China and Southeast Asia. His latest trips bought him to India, where he spent three weeks traveling by himself, always with a camera at hand.
Currently, Marius is completing his bachelor of Communications at Edith Cowan University majoring in both Photomedia and Media studies.
In his recent work, he is exploring the simplicity and yet beauty of using old rare – format cameras to photograph the less thought of. Through doing this he explores the complexity and obscurity of still life, with the city and its surrounding nature, as his background canvas.
Marius Nilsen
Born in 1982, Marius Nilsen spent the first year of his life in Asker, Norway.
In 1983, the Nilsen family moved to Qatar where they lived for 7 years before moving back to Norway.After attending most of his years in school in Norway and graduating from collage, Marius spent two years as a sergeant in the Norwegian Navy, serving nine months sailing under NATO command around Europe.
